A Shout Out to Childcare Workers

Share:

To the amazing people who help raise our children; whose dedication to chaotic, stressful and under-appreciated work enables us to earn our own income and support our families,

We recognise your tremendous skills in simultaneously nursing multiple babies to sleep, calming numerous highly-strung toddlers and engaging groups of pre-schoolers in educational activities. Your shoes are always filled with grains from toy-strewn sandpits and your hands are dirty from changing nappies and assisting with finger-painted masterpieces.

We see the extra hours you work; often without the accompanying income; when the boss employs too few educators, busy parents run late or exhausted colleagues rings in sick. Your heads are full of knowledge, your time is filled with paperwork, and your minds are buzzing with all the things you need to squeeze into your busy day.

We acknowledge that you are often the ones who really hear our children’s first words and see their first steps, yet you let us delight in our own special moments. Your memories are scattered with kids who you have loved and lost, and your hearts are full of compassion, patience and kindness for families of children in your care.

With sincere thanks for all that you’ve done for our children,

Grateful parents
